I downloaded the ASPNetVideo control to try it and having problems getting it to run a 30 MB video.

First when I hit the site from my development box the control does start the video after probably 2 minutes.

But when I try to hit the site from any other machine, it takes probably 3 to 4 minutes before starting the video with just the sound and no image.

Is this because its teh trial version. Whats up ???????

Hello.

I was just reading your post and wondered whether you are actually viewing the video from a streaming server, or if the video is having to load completely, (From the file system)before playback. I am streaming using rtsp from a Windows 2003 standard box and getting good performance using this control.

This is a problem that in my experience occurs when trying to embed/stream AVI formatted files, or just video files that are too big. I would suggest as a guideline to restrict your video file size to approximately 2MB/minute of playback.

Try Downloading Windows Media Encoder – and encoding as WMV.

For others with encoding problems using RealPlayer, try here: http://www.realnetworks.com/products/producer/index.html

and for QuickTime media: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/

You may need to wait half house to play video which is 30MB. You need encoder it to 2-3 MB by Windows Media Encoder.

The problem is that through Windows Media Encoder, video file is wmv file which only can play on windows media player, but not quick time and real.

I download and try it use Real Player, Pop up appear and ask me User Name and Password (server: Local Host). Does someone meet this problem?

Does someone know which encoder can encode file to mov or avi so video can play on different player?

OK

For clarity for anyone new to video encoding.

AVI is not suitable for delivery across the internet - period.
Video should not exceed more than a few MB per minute.

Encoding for Windows Media Player
Use the free Windows Media Encoder to encode WMV for windows media player:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx

Encoding for RealPlayer
Use Real Producer. This has free and paid for versions.
http://www.realnetworks.com/products/producer/index.html

Encoding for Quicktime
Use Quicktime Pro. This is not free.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/

Encoding for All Players - try MPEG
http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/index.html
Quality is not as high as choosing one of the above.

Also - ASPNetMedia are schduled to realease a Flash Video (FLV) component in the coming month: http://www.aspnetflashvideo.com/

Real Player Pop-Up
Real player has always required registration you need the patience to do this if you want to use and test real.
